Studio G Interior Design had the great pleasure of transforming the ground floor of this remarkable house in Cobham, Surrey. The interior design we completed is a timeless expression of English country style—enriched with colour, joyful details, layered textures, and lighting—all tailored to our clients’ lifestyle and taste.

The scope of this project encompassed the entire ground floor, including a grand foyer with terracotta flooring, two refurbished WCs, ground and first-floor corridors, a landing, a secondary main entry, and a large dining room. No structural changes were required to the private residence; instead, our focus was on refinement and enhancement.

Antique flair

Our clients wanted to breathe new life into their cherished antique furniture, while preserving the original character. We did this by revamping and French-polishing existing pieces and reupholstering seating. We also introduced some new bespoke handcrafted reproduction items as well as statement lighting to elevate selected rooms.

Carefully considered lighting

As is often the case with our projects, we began by upgrading the electrics and lighting to create a foundation for the finishing touches of furniture, soft furnishings, and accessories. We layered the lighting to include antiqued statement chandeliers, refined wall lights and oversized table lamps, highlighting decorative elements and enhancing atmosphere.

Colour and pattern

Throughout the interior we introduced wallpaper and textiles with geometric patterns or nature-inspired shapes. A striking wallpaper was installed between the dining room’s elegant wall panelling which has a wonderfully uplifting effect. One of our client’s special requests was for a coral-inspired theme in one of the WCs. This is a cheerful colour that strikes the perfect chord of warmth and rejuvenation. We delighted in sourcing a vibrant coral wallpaper, which paired with the round-framed antiqued fish illustrations, brings a playful yet sophisticated charm to the space.

The project exemplifies Studio G’s interior design commitment to transforming private residences into one-of-a-kind homes of exceptional quality and character. It is an exciting reinterpretation of the English country house—comfortable, colourful, confident, and deeply personal to its owners.
